NORWAY — On Tuesday, June 24, at 9 a.m., Norway Memorial Library will host a discussion of “Benediction” by Kent Haruf, the first of four literary novels selected as finalists in the 2014 Maine Readers’ Choice Award.

Subsequent discussions of the finalists for the MRCA will be held July 8, July 22 and Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. to discuss “The Golem & the Jinni” by Helene Wecker, “TransAtlantic” by Colum McCann and “The Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt.

To participate, adults should call or visit the library and register. Summer Morning Book Club “starter kits” are available at the library’s information desk. The reading selections are available at libraries and locally at Books-N-Things on Main Street. The discussion is free and open to the public.

The Morning Book Club at Norway Memorial Library began last summer when a three-part series discussed the finalists of the 2013 award. The library supplies a morning snack and attendees bring their own coffee or tea. Discussion lasts about one hour.

“It is a great start to the day. The reading of a book always expands with the opportunity to discuss it with others. Each person brings something unique to the discussion” said Beth Kane, library director and facilitator of the Morning Book Club discussions.
