DEAR SUN SPOTS: A big thank-you once again for your help with honoring our veterans by placing flags at their graves a few weeks ago.

We are reaching out because it is time to collect these roughly 6,000 flags, and we would really appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.

We have scheduled two days for the retrieval of flags at both St. Peter’s Cemetery, and Riverside Cemetery along with the Grand Army Republic Cemetery (right next door to Riverside).

This Friday, June 20, we have scheduled to go to Riverside and G.A.R. Cemeteries to collect flags starting at 3 p.m.; there are about 1,600 flags to be collected.

This Saturday, June 21, we will be going to St. Peter’s Cemetery to collect the majority of the flags starting at 9 a.m.; there are about 4,000 flags to be collected.

I will be driving around collecting the flags. You can carry a bag around and place them in there as you collect them, or you can also place the flags at the end of each (or every few rows), and I will collect them so that we can properly dispose of them.

Please be sure to bring bottles of water, sunscreen and any other items you may need.

I will be wearing an orange vest at the cemeteries.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions. Thanks again. — Marcus Talarico, marcusta2010@gmail.com, 207-689-1439

ANSWER: Sun Spots should have run this letter yesterday, but the month is getting away from her. Soon it will be the 4th of July! She hopes some of her readers will be able to help Marcus. The weather will be perfect for some mild outdoor exercise.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where’s Dave? For quite a long while, whenever Wally Camp was doing a commercial for his Rowe Ford Co. he had his tuxedo-clad buddy Dave beside him. He’s been absent for quite a while now, and we’re beginning to be worried. We sincerely hope he isn’t ill. You are missed, Dave. — No Name, Madrid

ANSWER: Sun Spots found her way to Don Lerette, a vice president at Rowe Ford and director for their advertising and marketing. He emailed that:

“Dave is fine. We still use Dave Winsor in some of our television commercials, as well as a voice-over talent in our radio commercials. We aired a red tag sale commercial last month with Dave and Wally and have a couple of commercials airing this month featuring Dave and Wally.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a beautiful deluxe Hugo walker, elite edition, like new to give away. Call me at 207-513-5008 for pickup. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: How very nice of you! You will undoubtedly be inundated with calls, but just in case there is also a local charity that will take your walker and loan it out to those in need.

Global Home Care Services is at 145 Lisbon St., Suite 503, Lewiston ME 04240, 207-376-3060. They do not pick up or deliver. Also, call before you drop items off. There is some medical equipment that cannot be reused because it cannot be properly sterilized.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You are a great source of information. Lorraine, I have magazines if you still want them. If you lost my number, I can leave them on the porch. — B.G., Turner

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not know who Lorraine is. There was no mention of her in the column that she knows of. Sun Spots does have someone in Auburn who takes used magazines. Perhaps her name is Lorraine; she was No Name in the column. You can call her at 784-3803.

B.G. also commented on a recent letter to the editor, but Sun Spots cannot run opinions. They need to go the letters editor, but many people send their thoughts to Sun Spots, perhaps because she will withhold their names. However, she cannot run those commentaries in the column.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Love your column! I have a big box of cross-stitching magazines to give away. Any takers. Also a large box of Craft magazines. Call 207-783-1007. — No Name, Lewiston
