ORLANDO, Fla. — Dorothy Bryce Cotton, formerly of Augusta, died at her home in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday, June 3, at the age of 99.

She was born to the late John and Emily Bryce on March 6, 1915, in Portland. Dorothy graduated from South Portland High School and received a degree in nursing from Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary in Portland. She married the late Linwood Cotton in 1938.

A spiritual person throughout her life, Dorothy was a member of the Green Street Methodist Church in Augusta for decades, until moving to Florida with her son and his wife in 2004.

Her many talents included painting, gourmet cooking, stenciling, reading, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she loved spending summers at her cottage on Panther Pond in Raymond, visiting with her family, playing cards and enjoying lobster.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Ron Cotton and his wife, Sylvia, of Orlando, Fla., and Emily Poole and her husband, Carl, of South Bristol. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael Cotton of Niwot, Colo., Stephen Cotton of Orlando, Fla., Tiffany Lott of New Hartford, N.Y., Joseph Poole of Phillips and Jennifer DeGraff of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; as well as six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Louise Bryce of Gorham, Charlotte Chandler of Lancaster, Mass., Eleanor Leary of Norwich, Conn., and Enid Mower of Greene.
