JAY — On June 11 the Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima in Jay gathered to hold their June business meeting. Chancellor Lauriann Castonguay led everyone in the recitation of the rosary. The meeting was called to order at 6:40 by regent Denise Rodzen.

A short form conferral was held for new Daughter Bonnie Sampson. Recording Secretary Jackie Castonguay read the roll call of officers. Next Castonguay read the minutes of the May business meeting. Castonguay reported that get-well cards were sent to Irene Sampson and Blanche Bilodeau, “thinking of you” sent to Marguerite Slovak, thank-you cards to Shawn Couture Sr. and Neil Bourgoin and a sympathy card sent to Pat Knowlton.

Maryette Castonguay sat in for excused Dora Nickless. Recording Secretary Castonguay read thank-you cards received from Maine Right to Life, Good Neighbors Fuel Fund, Amy Ouellette­Newman, Shari Ouellette and Linda Ouellette.

Rodzen read a letter she received from State Regent Jackie Dostie Smith. Regent asked everyone who has a calling card to please call everyone on their card and ask if they could bring a salad to the summer picnic which will be on Aug. 17 at the church camp.

Vice Regent Annette Melanson spoke about the Daughters’ summer outing, to be held on Aug. 13, and where she had gotten menus and prices. More discussion was planned for the June social.

Rita Crowley spoke about providing desserts at the free supper at the Knights of Columbus on June 14.

Regent spoke about the 40/40 club and getting more people to join. Members do not need to be a Daughter; a friend, husband, brother or sister can go in as a group or alone.

Lauriann spoke about the fall bazaar and that prizes are needed for the raffle. The bazaar will be Oct. 11 at the parish hall.
