DIXFIELD — The Ludden Memorial Library will host a book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 27, for Ken Hinkley of Dixfield and Pam Turner of Carthage, who co-wrote a biography on Turner’s life in 2013.

The book, “Through Troubled Waters,” tells the story of Turner’s experiences with bullying and verbal abuse. It was published in 2013 through Westbow Press.

Hinkley, who is a pastor at Dixfield Community Baptist Church and Carthage Union Church, said he met Turner while he was at the Union Church.

“She approached me a couple of years ago about the possibility of telling her story,” Hinkley said. “I thought she had a really compelling story to tell. I’ve sort of dabbled in writing in the past, but this is the first major story I’ve written.”

“We’re hoping to give readers ways to combat verbal abuse and explain that it is not OK to engage in,” Hinkley said. “At the book signing, we’ll be selling T-shirts that have the phrase, ‘Harsh Words Hurt’ printed across the front. There’s a limited amount available, but if people want them, we’ll make sure to take down their information so they can get one later.”

Hinkley said he’ll have copies of “Through Troubled Waters” available at the signing.
