A spectacular tumble was that taken by Elmer C. Smith from a motorcycle which he was riding on Center street, Auburn, at about 6:30 Wednesday evening. He escaped with a few scratches. He was coming up the street from the city at a great rate of speed and got into a bad rut in the middle of the road opposite the A. A. A. baseball park. He attempted to steer out of the rut and it was then that the handle bars were found to be loose. The cycle tipped and went into the ditch but Smith went in a different direction. A baseball game was in progress on the nearby park and some of the bleacher spectators happened to see the accident. They say that the whole outfit turned several somersaults. The cyclist soon picked himself up, righted the machine and tried it over again. Smith is not a green hand at cycling. He is employed by the V. S. Darling Auto Co., and lives in Auburn.

Less than six months after buying Great Waters of America, the Perrier Group of America has closed the South Rumford Road plant and transferred the bottling of the Ice Mountain brand of non-sparkling spring water to its Poland Spring facility. Perrier Group bought the Rumford bottler, known for many years as the Mt. Zircon Bottling Co., from Pepsico Jan. 24. Owned by Perrier of France, whose mineral water is distributed worldwide, the Perrier Group also bottles Poland Spring water. The plant closed earlier in the month of June and the water is being brought to Poland Spring for bottling.
