1933 – 2014

AUBURN — Wilson K. “Bill” Chapman, 81, of Auburn, died Sunday, June 22, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Born in Elmira, N.Y., on Jan. 19, 1933, he was a son of Wilson and Elisbeth Carr Chapman. He was a graduate of Southside High School, Class of 1951. On July 9, 1960, he married the former Lucille Bail of Lewiston; she passed away on April 10, 2004.

Bill worked in sales for several companies, including Fairchild, Digital Equipment Corporation, NEC, Toshiba and later as an executive recruiter for Intrinsix, spending most of his career living and working in Acton, Mass., and Brookline, N.H. His family summered at Taylor Pond in Auburn and upon his retirement in 1998, he and Lucille moved there full time.

He played golf when he could, and enjoyed traveling with his pals from high school and visiting friends away from Maine whenever he could. Bill was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

Bill is survived by two sons, Wilson K. Chapman III of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Matthew and wife, Kim Chapman, of Nashua, N.H.; four daughters, Marie and husband, Michael Degulis, of Brookline, N.H., Madelyn and husband, Walter Reed, of Auburn, RuthAnn and husband, Scott Votra, of Gardiner and Claire and husband, Steve Risteen, of Nashua, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; and a close friend and “Best Pal,” Mariette Bernier, of Lewiston.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Edgar and William; and a sister, Ann Davis.
