1946 – 2014

TOPSHAM — Susan A. Conroy, 68, of Topsham, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 25, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born in Providence, R.I., on June 9, 1946, the daughter of the late David and Evelyn (Skinner) Kerzner. She moved to Massachusetts as a child and attended schools in the Attleboro area. Susan was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1964.

Shortly after that, she started to raise her family. All five of her children were born in Attleboro and then they spent some years in Jamestown, R.I., before moving in 1981 to Medway. In 1986, Susan moved her family to Lisbon.

She was an active volunteer with the Lisbon community for many years. She co-organized the Moxie Festival with her son, Toby, for 12 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts with her grandchildren, stained glass, jewelry, yard sales and flea markets. Susan was a hair stylist with her daughter, Kerry, at Hairs Too You for over 20 years.

She wore many hats through her years. She was a school bus driver, driver’s ed teacher/owner, restaurant owner and a clothing boutique owner. Susan was all-encompassing. She was a grandmother, a father figure, a friend and confidante. She will always be remembered for being charitable, loving, compassionate, intelligent, giving, being a mother to many and inviting.

She is survived by her five children, Dee Dee Landry and her husband, Shawn, of Auburn, William Conroy and Sarah Bonney of Lisbon, Kerry Conroy Morongell and her husband, George, of Lisbon, Toby Conroy of Topsham and Cory Conroy and his fiancée, Ariel Thompson, of Sabattus. Lee (McCullough) Desmarais, and her son, Matthew Desmarais, all of Massachusetts. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Kristi and Casey Conroy, Makayla King, Justin and Paige Landry, Katelyn Lagasse, Kylee Morongell, Brendan and Kyla Conroy and Isaac Giasson.
