It is difficult to imagine the agony and deep sorrow that parents must feel if they are forced by horrible circumstances in their homeland to contemplate sending their child or children away alone to a new country.

Our anger should not be against the undocumented immigrants (I dislike using the term “illegal”). As citizens of a country that was developed by immigrants, to decide to refuse food and shelter for a brief time while refuges become acclimated is anti-American.

Our anger and our concentrated efforts should be toward working with the United Nations and other countries to end and prevent the circumstances that cause people in desperation to escape their homeland for other countries.

Gov. Paul Le Page, and those who speak negatively of the unfortunate yet hopeful immigrants, are blaming the victims.

It is extremely common for most immigrants to become hard-working, contributing citizens.
