LEWISTON — Bessey Motors scored six runs in the top of the first inning Monday and remained unbeaten in Zone 3 American Legion baseball with an 11-7 win over Pastime Club.
Riley Chickering had a two-run single and Brady LaFrance and Nick Bowie each added an RBI in the opening frame. That was more than enough support for Mitch Lorenz, who allowed only two earned runs through five innings on the mound, striking out five.
Bessey (7-0) increased the lead to 9-3 in the top of the sixth before Pastime (6-3) rallied with four runs. Two insurance runs provided cushion for Will Frank to close it out in the seventh.
Chickering, Lorenz, Bowie and Nick Attaliades-Ryan each had two hits for Bessey. Mike Wong and Ryan Riordan each had three hits to lead Pastime.
Both sides banged out 11 hits. Lorenz’s triple was the only extra-base knock.
Kyle Ullrich worked the first three frames and took the loss for Pastime.
