The Veayo Twins trio, with Carter Isaac, will kick off its Liberty Festival show at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, in Veterans Memorial Park singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Kristen and Katherine Veayo, 18, were nominated twice by the New England Music Awards as “Maine’s Best Band” for 2013 and 2014 after crafting “A Game We Play,” an album that combines pop, straight-ahead rock, R&B and a little country. Songwriter and guitarist Kristen Veayo, sings lead. Her sister Katherine sings harmony while keeping the rhythm on drums or keys. Carter Isaac contributes a passionate lead vocal and an energetic style of piano playing. Isaac, 16,  has a writer’s contract with Jim Mayer of the Jimmy Buffet band. In addition to original material, the band covers Top 40-style artists, including One Republic, Christina Aguilera, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Karmin, Monsters of Men and Taylor Swift, and oldies such as Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.
