CHESTERVILLE — A local man is accused of pointing a shotgun at a woman and firing it over her head when a verbal dispute escalated on Friday, Maine State Police Sgt. Mathew Casavant said Sunday in a release.
State police arrested Scott Henry, 44, on a charge of domestic violence criminal threatening with a weapon and domestic violence terrorizing, he said.
Police received a report of a domestic violence incident at about 3 p.m. at a residence on Chesterville Hill Road. The caller reported she had gone to the residence, a verbal altercation with Henry ensued and quickly escalated to the shotgun being fired over her head, Casavant said.
The woman fled the scene.
State police and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies responded and located the victim.
The Maine State Police Tactical Team was called in to assist when Henry refused to leave the residence, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Henry exited his residence and was taken into custody, Casavant said.
State police took him to the jail in Farmington, where he is being held without bail.
