PORTLAND (AP) — The head of Maine’s largest construction company is traveling to Iceland and Greenland in search of business opportunities.

President and CEO of Cianbro Corp., Peter Vigue, leaves Monday on the week-long trip during which he will visit with political and businesses officials in both countries in the hopes of brokering business deals for construction work.

Vigue told the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1qrHrSL ) that Maine’s location and skilled work force makes it easy to transport structure built in Maine to sites in the North Atlantic.

Icelandic shipping line Eimskip chose Portland as its US port of call last year. Vigue says that decision has built new relationships that can expand opportunities in other industries.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage recently returned from a trade mission to Iceland.
