1948 – 2014

LEWISTON — Gerald “Jerry” Arthur Brault, 66, of Gray, passed away on Saturday, July 5, at Central Maine Medical Center at 11:32 a.m. He died from complications due to emphysema and COPD.

Jerry was born in Rumford on April 7, 1948. He was predeceased by his father, Armand E. Brault; mother, Marion G. Oakes Brault; two sisters; one stepdaughter; and two grandsons. Jerry had five sisters. He was married to his beloved wife, Katherine J. Brault, on June 14, 1997, in Gray. He had four daughters, Dotty Brault, Kimberly King, Susan Lewis and Mary Ann Chase; two sons, Michael Brault and Edward Brault; eleven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Loving companions were his dog, Jimmy; Shelly; and his cat, Mary.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from January 1967 to November 1968, during which time he was severely wounded. He came home with several medals, including a Purple Heart, representing his love, devotion and respect of his country. Following his honorable discharge, he became a lifetime member of the DAV.

He worked at Bass Shoe and made a career as a truck driver for Currier Trucking Co., of Gorham, N.H., for 25 years. He received several awards for safety in driving during his trucking career. His CB handle was MaineWoods; Jerry loved driving trucks!

His passion was fishing, troll fishing, hunting, camping, four-wheeling and being outside in the deep Maine woods. He was well educated and knowledgeable about animal life and forestry.

Jerry loved his wife dearly and his family with all his heart. Jerry was a loving man and will be greatly missed by many.
