1943 – 2014

AUBURN — Normand R. Roy, 70, of Lewiston, died peacefully on Monday, July 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 2, 1943, a son of the late Dalvas and Viola (Pomerleau) Roy, and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He was employed as a fiberglass weaver at Quinco Fabrics for many years, until his retirement.

Normand was involved with the Fly Football League for over 25 years in Lewiston. He coached the Junior Steelers for a few years and took great pride in being the league equipment manager when he had finished coaching. Normand was an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

He is survived by his wife, the former Louise A. Carney, whom he married on May 24, 1974, of Lewiston; two sons, Scott Roy and his wife, Amy, of Lewiston and Shawn Roy of Lewiston; one daughter, Lisa Roy, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Shane, Taylor, Austin, Rosie and Thomas; one brother, Laurier Roy and his wife, Irene, of Lewiston; two sisters, Murielle Demers and her husband, Robert, of Bristol, Conn., and Jacqueline Demers of Corinth; and several nieces and nephews.
