1939 – 2014

DIXFIELD — Richard L. Knowles, 75, of Dixfield, died Thursday evening, July 10, at his home.

He was born in Dixfield on June 22, 1939, a son of Oscar and Lottie (Nowlin) Knowles, and received his education in local schools. On July 25, 1959, he married Linda Child at Peru Baptist Church.

Richard worked as a truck driver most of his life and was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a former member of Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club in Rumford, Dixfield Fire Co., and Webb River Sportsmen’s Club.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, of Dixfield; two sons, Bobby and his wife, Kathy, of Dixfield and David and his wife, Carla, of Farmington; a sister, June Legere and her husband, Wallace, of Dixfield; four grandchildren, Brian and Nathan of Dixfield and Curtis and Emily of Farmington; and two great-grandchildren, Madison of Farmington and Bradley of Rumford.
