LEWISTON – A benefit concert featuring several of Maine’s finest musicians will take place from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar Street, for beloved community member Lou Morin, who suffered a life-threatening stroke. Bands performing include Rustic Overtones, Lazy Lightning (Grateful Dead Tribute Band), Pardon Me Doug (Phish Tribute Band), The Kind and local favorite, $2 Pistol, to get the night started.
The Franco Center has donated the space at Heritage Hall and all the bands are performing gratis. Consequently, all of the night’s proceeds raised at the door will be donated directly to Morin to assist him during his recovery. Special guests for the evening include Anna Lombard, Oliver Waterman, Jeff Trent, Kevin Ladlow, Larry Plass, Zachary Jellis and Greg Martens. In addition, there will be a silent auction with items donated from local businesses. The Center will also open its cash bar.
Before his stroke, Morin was the executive director at the Franco Center. Prior to this job, Morin spent many years working for and with MPBN, and has been a lifelong supporter of live music and the arts. He was one of the original members of the band, Lazy Lightning, as well as the band, The Kind, so it is especially poignant that these bands are featured Saturday. The event is open to ages 21 plus and the suggested donation at the door is $10.
