The Maine Conservation Corps recently welcomed Theresa Therriault of Monmouth to serve as a field team member and AmeriCorps national service member for three months of national service.
It also welcomed Michele Green of Wales to serve as an environmental steward and AmeriCorps national service member for six months of national service.
Therriault is the daughter of John and Pauline Therriault, also of Monmouth. She is a 2011 graduate of St. Dominic Academy and is attending the University of Maine at Orono, majoring in parks, recreation and tourism.
Green is the daughter of Gary Green of Turner, and Judith Gallop of Monmouth. She is a 1987 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and is a 2013 graduate of Central Maine Community College, with a building construction technology degree.
The MCC conducts conservation projects throughout the state, including extensive recreational trail construction and rehabilitation.
“On behalf of the State of Maine, I would like to congratulate you on your commitment to serving Maine as a member of the Maine Conservation Corps,” Gov. Paul LePage said.
Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Commissioner Walt Whitcomb also welcomed Therriault, and highlighted the important work that the MCC does on behalf of Maine citizens.
“As part of the DACF, the MCC’s four-fold mission is to: accomplish conservation projects, create conservation employment, provide conservation education, and engage conservation volunteers,” he said.
