1949 – 2014

RUMFORD — Barbara DeSalle of Smithville Road in Rumford passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12.

She was born in Rumford on Jan. 15, 1949, a daughter of Michael J. and Gloria A. (Lantiegne) DeSalle. Barbara was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School. She was also a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, where she received her master’s degree in education. She was a teacher in the Rumford school system for 40 years and retired from RES in 2011.

Barbara had a passion for watching her students grow as they developed into writers. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of MENSA. Barbara loved reading, writing and creating humorous stories.

Surviving are her mother, Gloria DeSalle of Rumford; a sister, Gina Gallant and husband, Eric, of Sumter, S.C.; two brothers, Michael S. DeSalle of Rumford and Kevin L. DeSalle of Rumford; two nieces, Jamie DeSalle of Sumter, S.C., and Jenny Gallant of Jacksonville, Fla.
