SOUTH PARIS — Charles J. Flanders, 89, of Stoneham, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 13, under the compassionate care of the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He was born in Lewiston on March 17, 1925, a son of Joseph and Blanche Bernier Flanders. He faithfully served our country in the U.S. Army and in his younger years, he was a logger and a truck driver. He later became an electrician.
He was a member of the American Legion and the local fish and game association. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Charles is survived by his son, Leslie Flanders and his wife, Carol; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; six great-grandsons; 10 great-granddaughters; and two great-great-grandsons. He loved them all and was loved by all of them.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary McAlister; his parents, Joseph and Blanche; a sister, Patricia Hamlin; brothers, Ken and Lee; and sons, Wayne and Alan.
