MINOT — Helen G. Hussar, 91, of Fortin Drive, Minot, died Sunday, July 13, at her home.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on April 22, 1923, a daughter of the late Peter and Roxanne (Agee) Vlahogianis. She was educated in Pittsburgh and graduated from Schenley High School in 1941. She then went on to proudly serve her country in The U.S. Woman’s Army Corps, where she was trained as a dental assistant. In 1954, Helen married the love of her life, Stephen Paul Hussar, who predeceased her on April 19, 1968. She worked for more than 31 years at Western Electric, retiring on Oct. 16, 1981. She then relocated to Maine after the birth of her first granddaughter, Lauren.

Helen was a member of The First Assembly of God Church in Lewiston and volunteered at Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters, Lauren and Megan, and her cat Jade, reading, retreats with church, playing Scrabble with friends and family, and scenic car rides.

She leaves behind her son, Gerald Hussar and fiancé, Vicki Parker; two granddaughters, Lauren Hussar of Chicago and Megan Hussar of Auburn; her former daughter-in-law, Renee Conte Hussar; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Gust Vlahogianis; and a sister, Dorothy Felger.
