1941 – 2014
AUBURN — Paul P. McKinnon, 72, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, July 12, at the Hospice House, with his family by his side.
He was born in Mars Hill on Nov. 26, 1941, the son of John and Phyllis Kilcollins McKinnon. He married Edna Blanchard on Oct. 8, 1960, and was the owner of Route 26 Antiques, Books and Collectibles in Oxford. He was the former owner of Andy Valley Home Improvements in Rumford and Paul’s Delivery Service in Mexico.
Paul was a former coach of the Mexico Colt, Pony Leagues and American Legion Baseball from 1975 to 1982. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, of Oxford; his children, Kevin and wife, Susan, Keith and wife, Sue, and Shawn and wife, Bertha; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come with me.” With teary eyes we watched him fade away and though we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands are at rest; God broke our hearts to prove God only takes the best.
