FARMINGTON — A Franklin County grand jury indicted a Wilton man Monday on charges from a driving incident last month in Wilton.

Ryan Brann, 36, faces a felony charge of driving after habitual offender revocation and endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident.

Brann drove off in a family member’s vehicle on June 25. The family notified police that he was using illegal drugs and was unfit to drive, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox previously said.

He damaged mailboxes on School Street and went off the road on Orchard Drive, where he traveled across a lawn into a pasture, damaging a fence, the field and the vehicle. A 14-year-old passenger jumped out of the vehicle and ran to the road for help, she said.

When Wilcox drove the police cruiser onto the field, Brann attempted to leave, but the vehicle became stuck farther. She found him locked inside and huffing dust spray, she said.

The passenger complained of neck and head pain. A parent intended to take him to a family doctor, she said.

Brann was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital, treated and released for transport to Franklin County Detention Center.
