DIXFIELD — The Ludden Memorial Library is hosting its last two summer reading programs at 2 p.m. July 22 and 29, librarian Peggy Malley said Thursday morning.

Malley said that the library is planning to host an Arts and Crafts event July 22, where children will craft glowing firefly bug jars.

“Every year, we do a different Arts and Crafts event,” she said. “This year, we’re taking jars, decorating the outsides of them and using them as something to catch fireflies in.”

On July 29, Greg McAdams, a magician from Nashua, N.H., is bringing his show to the library.

“It’s called The Greg and Axel Show,” Malley said. “Basically, he comes in with his dog, Axel, and performs magic tricks with him. We’ve never invited him here before, but I did a little research and reached out to him and it seems like he’ll be a good fit here.”

Malley said McAdams performs at libraries throughout New England.

After McAdams performs, the library will present reading certificates to the children who completed their reading assignments.
