1934 – 2014

RUMFORD — Marie Elizabeth “Betty” Raymond, 80, of Rumford and formerly of Chisholm and Farmington, died Wednesday evening, July 16, at Rumford Community Hospital, with her daughter by her side.

She was born in Jay on May 24, 1934, a daughter of Alphonse and Eulalie Pelletier Raymond, and graduated from Jay High School in 1954. She worked at various shoe shops in the area and at Dubord’s Market in Chisholm for over 20 years.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and the Red Sox. She will be remembered for facing the world with grace, bravery and dignity.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Daignault and her husband, John, of Livermore Falls; two brothers, Joseph Raymond of Jay and Bertrand Raymond of Massachusetts; and three sisters, Madeline Poulin of Manchester, Rosalie Gaudette of Lewiston and Louise Scott of Dixfield;

She was predeceased by a sister, Alma; and two brothers, Rene and Arthur.
