DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have a list of people who repair wooden chairs? I have some kitchen table chairs that need regluing. I’m think of the Oxford-Norway-South Pair area but would be willing to go further.

I read your column daily. You are a wonderful resource for lots of people. — Vickie Rogers, Otisfield

ANSWER: Sun Spots has had this question several times over the years and gotten few responses. Maybe this time will be better.

Catherine Raynor of Morin’s Fine Furniture in Lewiston, 782-7511, www.morinsfinefurniture.com, wrote to say that her company does all manner of furniture repair and refinishing and has been doing so for 81 years.

In addition, Sun Spots had two chairs worked on at New Look Refinishing (Wings Mills Road, Mt. Vernon, 685-4540) and was pleased with the results. His shop is kind of between Augusta and Belgrade, if you have reason to head that way.

Readers, do you know of any others? Surely somebody out Vickie’s way must fix real wood furniture.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: There used to be a drop-off box provided by the Lion’s Club at Hannaford’s for old eyeglasses. It has been removed. Does anyone know where one can donate these? Hate to throw them away. — No Name via email

ANSWER: In April Sun Spots was informed that the Lions Club has a receptacle at Riverside Eye Care, 245 Center St., Auburn, 207-786-2500. They welcome cellphones, eyeglasses and hearing aids.

You can also drop off eyeglasses at Pro Vision in the Auburn Mall, 550 Center St., 207-783-1394. The man who answered the phone said the box is pretty full, so the nearest Lion will need to pick up soon.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I couldn’t find the link to submit to you, so I hope this way will work.

Calvary Christian Academy in Turner is looking for commercial swing set and/or playground equipment. If you know of or see any for sale, please contact the school at 207-225-3665 or email me. Thank you. — Mary Crane, secretary@cbcturner.org

ANSWER: The link to send a question from the website is at sunjournal.com/contact-sunspots. But sending an email directly to sunspots@sunjournal (no hyphens, even if it breaks in printing) is a perfectly good way to contact Sun Spots as well.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the July 7 query from a reader looking for eBay consignment sellers, I am a power seller on eBay and have sold items for other people privately as well.

As with other eBay sellers who consign items, I take a certain percentage depending on the item and the selling price. The client is also responsible for all selling fees associated with the sale of their item.

I have a good track record with a feedback rating of 99.5 percent. Potential clients are invited to look me up on eBay; my user name is kissfan67.

If any readers have anything they would like to sell, give me a call or email me and we can talk. Thank you. — Brad Johnson, 207-393-7645, partsguy89@yahoo.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not know which kiss Brad is a fan of, but for readers who might not know, Kiss is also a rock band, very big about 30 years ago.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A benefit Sweet Summertime vendor and craft fair and raffle will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Norway Savings Bank Arena, behind Shaws Supermarket.

More crafters and vendors are welcomed. Contact Stephanie Bates by visiting www.facebook.com/stephanie.bates.7773 or call 207-740-3382.

The event will benefit Alan Spear, formerly of Canton, who was in a serious accident on July 27, 2013. He is still in what is called a minimally conscious state and requires round-the-clock care. This event will help raise money to get a wheelchair lift for the family’s vehicle, and some other much-needed items to help in his care. — Kimberly via email
