LEWISTON — Museum L-A announces that “The Call for Makers, Performers and Creators” is open for the third annual Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Bates Mill Complex, 35 Canal St., to benefit the work and mission of Museum L-A.

Welcoming both established and emerging local “makers,” the Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire is a family friendly celebration, featuring robots, DIY science and technology, alternative energy, unique handmade crafts, found object art, music and local food, educational workshops and more.

Last year, over 900 community members from across New England enjoyed a full day of fun and discovery, exploring three floors overflowing with makers from nearly every field and specialty. Any groups or individuals interested in participating in this year’s event should complete the simple application at www.makerfairelewistonauburn.org by July 25.

The Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire takes after its enormous parent event, Maker Faire, which hosts 90,000 visitors in San Mateo, Calif., in May. The Lewiston-Auburn Mini Maker Faire is a smaller, community focused event, but follows the Maker Faire model of celebrating do-it-yourself (or do-it-together) creativity and innovation.
