CHESTERVILLE — A local man is being held at the Franklin County jail in Farmington without bail on a domestic violence assault charge.
Roy Simoneau Jr., 29, of Chesterville was accused of choking and assaulting an ex-girlfriend Tuesday at a residence at 99 Horseshoe Pond Road, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
Simoneau was arrested on a felony charge of domestic violence assault.
Franklin County sheriff’s Cpl. Christopher Chase, Detective Stephen Charles, Deputy Sandy Burke and Nichols responded to the residence for a report of a domestic disturbance.
“It was reported that Roy choked and assaulted his ex-girlfriend who had come by to retrieve personal belongings,” Nichols said.
