1935 – 2014

AUBURN — Fernand “Fern” C. Theriault, of Auburn, died following a long illness on Tuesday, July 22, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Fern was born on Aug. 30, 1935, in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada, to Ludger and Anna (Drapeau) Theriault. In June 1947, he immigrated to Lewiston with his parents and other siblings. In his earlier years, he worked in the lumber industry, driving logging rigs in and out of the Canadian woods.

He would later marry Yvette A. Roy (Theriault) and together, they had five children. Although they later separated, they would remain close friends, until Yvette passed in 1999. Together, they raised a family in Poland.

For many years, he owned and operated L & A Concrete, providing both residential and commercial concrete services throughout the area. He would later enjoy sharing his construction knowledge with his two boys, getting physically involved with their personal home projects.

Things he enjoyed most were eating fine-cooked meals, going out to restaurants, a good cup of coffee with his daughter, going for drives and just getting out of the house.

Fern is survived by three of his children, Cynthia “Cindy” A. Theriault of Poland, Clement C. Theriault of Poland and Michael “Mike” A. Theriault and his wife, Trina, of Minot, and two predeceased sons, Jimmy and Joseph. Fern has two grandsons, Taylor and Joshua Theriault. Two sisters survive Fern, Lena Martel of Lewiston and Terry Fournier of Lewiston; and one brother, Fred Theriault, of Lewiston. A longtime friend and companion, Craig Nelson, also survives Fern.

His parents, Ludger and Anna Theriault; brothers, Wilfred Theriault, Aime Theriault, Albert Theriault, Roger Theriault, Romeo Theriault and Robert Theriault; and sisters, Rose-Aime Caron and Jacqueline Bonin, predecease him.
