LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted 4-1, with Peter Castonguay opposed, on Wednesday to negotiate with Carrie Castonguay of Jay for the position of administrative assistant, interim Administrative Assistant Renda Guild said Friday.

Selectpersons received 19 applications for the position in June and decided to interview five of them earlier in July.

The board met in executive session for nearly 90 minutes before they came out and made a decision, Guild said.

Voting in favor of negotiating with Castonguay were Chairman Mark Chretien and fellow selectpersons, Megan Dion, Rod Newman and Tim Kachnovich.

Former town Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub left the position in April after more than a decade on the job, to become the town manager of Turner.
