Auditions for Community Little Theatre’s first production of its 75th season, “Oliver!”, will be held on at 6:30 p.m., Sunday and Monday, Aug. 10 and 11. Unless called back, those trying-out need only plan to attend one night or the other.  Call-back auditions, if necessary will be reserved for Wednesday, Aug.  13.

Auditions will be held at CLT’s home at Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy St.  in Auburn.  Production dates are Oct.  10-19.

The musical is based on a Charles Dickens novel. The moving story is about a young boy, “Oliver Twist” who lives in a workhouse with other orphaned boys. When Oliver disrupts a meal by asking for more, he is sold to a local undertaker and his family.  The rest of the story is well-known, and with a score by Lionel Bart, it carries the audience to 19th-century London in magical ways.  There are numerous principal and ensemble roles. The show will be directed by Richard Martin, with music direction by Paul G. Caron.

For singing, a choice of a musical selection from “Oliver!” is preferable for the audition. However, singers may select and prepare songs of their choosing from other musicals.  Each person is asked to provide the music sheet to the musical director prior to singing. There will be no unaccompanied singing for this audition.  All who audition will also be required to undergo a dance audition. They are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for choreography auditions. Each person auditioning will be asked to participate in a cold script read of scenes from the show.

For a full description of the characters and other audition details, visit the CLT Facebook page or LACLT.com . Copies of the script may be available during box office hours at Community Little Theater.
