NEW VINEYARD — A Mass of Christian Burial for Nathan Gerald Allen of New Vineyard was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 133 Middle St., Farmington, preceded by a family prayer service at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road (Routes 2 and 27) Farmington, with the Rev. James Martel officiating. Pallbearers were Chelsea Allen, Sheldon Allen, Ryan Hutchinson, Stanton Ellis, Dana Doughty and James Elliott. The altar server was Cordell Ellis. Readers were Shawnee Ellis, reciting Revelations 21:1-5; 6-7 and Christopher Doughty, Revelations 14:13. The gifts were brought forward by Timothy Doughty and Ryan Elliott. Lee Ann Tinker was the church organist, and the choir members were Susan Anzivino and Patricia Carlton. The processional was “On Eagle’s Wings,” the offertory “Be Not Afraid,” the Communion song was “You Are Near” followed by “Song of Farewell” and the recessional was “All I Ask of You.” Robert Underwood, the bagpiper, played a medley of songs at the entrance of the church during the processional and welcomed the funeral cortege to the private family cemetery, “The Cemetery,” on the Barker Road in New Vineyard. The family cemetery was blessed, and committal prayers were recited by Chaplain Weigelt of the Maine National Guard. The family cannons were fired! Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
