GRAY — The Maine Wildlife Park will host a Mad Science Fire and Ice Show from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 2.
Children will explore the three states of matter and learn about the properties of fire and combustion. They will see how special Mad Science paper can burn leaving no ash behind and will witness the “Swoosh, Whoosh, Aaaah” experiment.
Demonstrations involving dry ice will follow, including the “Big Burp,” the “Sizzling Scissors” and the “Mad Science Shower.”
All Mad Science shows provide live, interactive and educational experiences.
In addition, Tom Berube, a local master bird taxidermist from Avian Taxidermy, will demonstrate the creation of a loon mount and display from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Taxidermy is a method of reproducing a life-like, three-dimensional rendition of a mammal, bird or fish for permanent display. Berube plans ton donate the finished loon display to the wildlife park.
