‘Foods For Thought’ series at Ark

LEWISTON — “Foods For Thought,” a four-week Balanced Living series, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.

There is a battle raging in today’s health crisis. It is over the brain. Can diet make a difference in risk for dementia?

Participants will learn strategies for simple lifestyle change and how to improve mood, improve mental function, cut cravings and food addictions, and lower risk for debilitating diseases.

Registration is required. The cost of $35 per person  or $55 per couple includes all four sessions, dinner before each class and one syllabus.

Each Balanced Living series session is filled with practical information, scientific facts and interactive discussions.

Balloon moon glow set for Aug. 13

AUBURN — A balloon moon glow will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the Rolly’s Diner parking lot, 87 Mill St.

The balloon will rise and fall as it glows in the dark.

Proceeds from the sale of popcorn and water will go toward repair of Marshall’s Popcorn Truck. The truck will be on display during the event.

The event is hosted by Rolly’s Diner and the New Auburn Social Club.

Franco-American War Veterans meet

LEWISTON — The Franco-American War Veterans Post 31 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Memorial Armory, 65 Central St.

The meeting will be held in the Senior Room.

Blood drive at St. Francis Xavier

WINTHROP — A community blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, Route 133.

Society seeks yard sale items

HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society is planning a fundraising yard sale for Saturday, Aug. 16. Donated items are wanted and will be picked up. Call 966-2177 or 966-2023.

The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hebron Historical Society, 358 Paris Road.
