Bells rang in my head when I read that Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida thought that Maine Gov. Paul LePage is in favor of repealing the 20th century.

The pealing bells I heard were from the 19th century.

LePage would have us believe that we should obstruct, hinder and basically destroy any traditional social services, state or federal.

LePage’s coalition chair thinks that Wasserman Schultz is guilty of hyper-partisanship. Has she no eyes?

Republicans at both the state and federal levels have built a Hadrian’s Wall to prevent any social progress even whispered by a Democrat, and that wall goes even further back.

Let’s hope that the compassionate, civil and opened-minded voters of Maine will make an informed choice this fall.
