LEWISTON — On Feb. 22, Community Credit Union hosted a Poker Run event in Androscoggin County to raise money for the Maine Credit Union’s Campaign for Ending Hunger. Participants traveled, mainly by snowmobiles, to local businesses that were noted as “Poker Stops” to get their card stamped. Based on the number of stops that were visited, the participant was dealt a poker hand at the actual event site in Sabattus. The event raised a total of $2,316.10 for the campaign.

The following are winners from the event: First place, Yvan Gauvin, $1,000; second, Wayne Clifford, $500; and third, Denny Perron, $250.

Of all the snowmobile clubs that participated, all clubs were entered into a drawing and the Sabattus Mountaineers Club won a $250 prize donated by Community Credit Union.

Since 1990, when the campaign began, Maine’s Credit Unions have raised and distributed more than $4.8 million to help end hunger in Maine. One hundred percent of all the money raised by credit unions stays in Maine and goes directly to hunger organizations and local food pantries.
