“When I decided to ‘borrow’ Bess for my character Miss Hastings, I had no idea she would become one of the most popular characters in The Sovereign Series,” Wixson said. “Now, with the advent of my new book telling Miss Hastings’ story, I think readers would be interested in learning more about the real person behind the fictional character.”

On the 80-minute CD, Klain plays piano and sings. She also talks about her family, teaching in the local schools, children, and the importance of love. A donation of $5 from the sale of every copy of “God Has Been Good To Me” will go to the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church. Klain was the organist for the church for many years and also donated her Steinway to the Norway U.U. Church upon her passing.

Books ‘N Things, 430 Main St. will host Wixson from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. Patrons will be able to listen to and purchase the CD as well as autographed copies of “The Songbird of Sovereign.” For more information, email [email protected] or visit the bookstore.
