LEWISTON — Eugene “Gene” Hunnewell, 73, of Lewiston, a transgendered male known as “Misty Love,” passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Sunday, Aug. 3, surrounded by close family and friends, after a short battle with transitional cell carcinoma.
Being a man of strong faith, he was a deacon at High Street Congregational Church. His willingness to help any and all people was unsurpassed. His unwavering belief that people can change for the better, coupled with his never-ending compassion for humankind, led him to never give up.
Gene was fun-loving and caring. He gave the innermost places of his heart to his grandchildren, who knew him as “Bampa” and “Grandpa Gene.”
Gene is survived by his sister, Beatrice Bridges; his six children and six grandchildren.
