KENNEBUNK (AP) — Two Kennebunk police officers have been honored for saving a man who went into cardiac arrest during a traffic stop.

The town’s board of supervisors honored officers Matthew Harrington and Michael Tucci at Tuesday’s meeting. The officers were also reunited with the man whose life they saved — 84-year-old Gavin Falconer.

Falconer was pulled over by Harrington for speeding on July 26.

During the stop, Falconer had a heart attack. Harrington performed CPR and a minute later Tucci showed up with a defibrillator.

Falconer says he and his wife were heading for their favorite ice cream parlor, but usually take a different route. He says it was pure luck that he chose a new route.

Falconer also got a new pink shirt to replace the one ripped during the rescue.
