AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library is announcing a new series of programs for those interested in quilting.

Led by Betty Bell of Hope Chest Quilts in Auburn, this unique program will explore the history of quilts and techniques of quilting, and provide opportunities to share your latest creations.

One feature of the program will be short excerpts from a nine-part documentary series titled “Why Quilts Matter: History, Art & Politics.” The series takes a fresh look at quilts and spreads the word about their unique position at the center of a startlingly broad grid of topics, ranging from women’s studies to the contemporary art market. The documentaries were created by The Kentucky Quilt Project.

The program will run at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights, beginning Sept. 4, and is free.

More information and a registration form may be found at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org/reference/adult_quilting.html or by calling Marty Gagnon at 333-6640, ext. 4.
