1925 – 2014

AUBURN — Esley C. Thompson, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was formerly a resident of Riverside Park Road in Mexico.

Born in Roxbury on July 29, 1925, she was a daughter of Merle F. and Myrtle B. (Bean) Philbrick. She attended Mexico schools. She worked at Diamond International Paper in Dixfield for over 29 years until retirement in 1987 from the Candy Sticks Dept. She was a member of the Mexico First Baptist Church.

She was married in Mexico on Aug. 2, 1941, to Vinal E. Thompson. He died in Rumford on Oct.17, 2007.

Survivors include two sons, Peter and his wife, Kathleen, of Mexico and Mark and his wife, Gail, of Peru; two daughters, Carol Thibeault and husband, Joe, of Mexico and Patti Stewart and husband, Greg, of Lakeland, Fla.; Grandchildren, Dan Thibeault, Master Sgt. Jeffrey Thibeault USAF, Troy Thibeault, Tricia Blouin, Pamela Redstone, Lisa Rioux, Erin Hernandez and Brodie Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy DeRoche of Rumford, Patty Austin and husband, Alan, of Rumford, Beverly Boyle and her husband, Lee, of Mexico; a brother, Rodney Philbrick and his wife, Stella, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by children, Vinal Thompson Jr. and Colleen Thompson; sisters, Muriel Downs, Methyl Cantin, Glory Leighton, Mona Young, Barbara Bouchard, Audrey Thompson, Polly Robinson and Nancy Philbrick; brothers, Johnny, Marshall, Richard, Glendon and Gary Philbrick.
