FARMINGTON — The condition of a New Jersey woman who was critically injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon was upgraded to serious, a Maine Medical Center spokeswoman said Friday.
Carol Wood, 71, of Warren, N.J., was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening after the sport utility vehicle she was driving on Whittier Road collided with a box truck at the Route 156 intersection.
The truck was driven by Ben Hartford, 20, of Jay.
Witnesses told police that Wood did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Route 156, and drove into the path of the truck at approximately 5:10 p.m., Farmington police Chief Jack Peck previously said. It was raining at the time of the crash.
Wood was vacationing with family members on Flying Pond in Vienna, Peck previously said.
The accident remains under investigation.
