1929 – 2014
AUGUSTA — Janet L. Bean, 84, was reunited with her beloved husband, Frank, on Tuesday, Aug. 19, after a five-year struggle with dementia.
Born on Oct. 17, 1929, she was the eldest daughter of Alfred J. Legere and Olive (Paquette) Legere. She attended St. Theresa Grammar School and Mexico High School, where she was elected to the National Honor Society and graduated in the Class of 1947.
On June 2, 1952, she married the love of her life, Frank R. Bean; they were married 57 years when he passed away in 2009.
A lifelong resident of Rumford, Janet worked as a secretary for various local businesses, among them Metropolitan Life Insurance and International Paper Co., Woodlands Division, from which she retired in 1985. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and a lifelong member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Janet was a voracious reader and devoured mysteries and historical fictions in her spare time. In addition, she also enjoyed knitting, crochet, sewing and embroidery. In her later years, she discovered counted cross-stitch and created many beautiful pieces for herself, family and friends.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” and son-in-law, John Perry; grandson, Christopher Perry and his wife, Amy; granddaughter, Kathryn Perry; great-grandsons, Matthew, Grant and Mason Perry; and by her sister, Sister Arlene Legere.
