WINTHROP — The Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed will hold their fourth annual “Spotter’s Sprint” Canoe and Kayak Paddle starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, on Cobbossee Lake, at the YMCA Camp of Maine in East Winthrop. The paddle covers a 1.5-mile course.
The event is family-friendly, offering single and tandem race categories for multiple age categories.
Following the race, a cookout lunch will be provided by the YMCA Camp. Spectators are welcome to join the lunch cookout for $6 per person with no preregistration required.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available through the camp.
Last years “Spotter’s Sprint” was a great success with 51 participants. Organizers anticipate more than 100 this year.
A free T-shirt with cookout lunch is included with registrations completed by noon on Thursday, Aug. 21.
Preregistration is $20 per person. Race-day registration starts at 9 a.m. at the YMCA Camp. The $25 per person entry fee includes lunch but no guarantee of T-shirt.
