1931 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Myrtle B. Jack, 83, of South Paris, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Market Square Health Care Center, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

She was born in North Livermore on May 22, 1931, a daughter of Alton E. and Gleyn Kilbreth Bisbee. Myrtle graduated as salutatorian of Leavitt Institute in Turner in 1948. In June of that year, she started working as a secretary at Federal Shoe in Lewiston. She continued to work at several clerical and secretarial jobs, including one of her favorites at Lee’s Auto Dealership in Auburn.

During her working years, she spent much of her summer evenings and weekends at her camp on Beals Pond. After her retirement at age 62, she was a snowbird, wintering in St. Petersburg, Fla., and spending her summers at camp in Maine.

She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, old-time movies, reading, sewing, telling a good joke and visiting her friends.

She is survived by two sons, Randall and wife, Linda, of Norway and Ryan of South Paris; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Waite of Leeds and Lois and husband, Reynald Lefebvre, of Leeds.

She was predeceased by her parents and her youngest sister, Rita A. Tilton.
