1923 – 2014

AUBURN — Marie A. Tardiff, 91, of Lewiston, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on April 21, 1923, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Jacques) Ouellette, and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years, until her retirement. Marie married Rosaire Tardiff on Nov. 4, 1944; he died on March 28, 2000.

Marie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, shopping and going to garage sales, but most of all she loved having cookouts and spending time with her family. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Tardiff and his wife, Sandy, of Hartford and David Tardiff of Wales; three daughters, Susan Begin and her husband, Leo, of Sabattus, Sally Tardiff of Cambridge, Mass., and Donna “Lilly” Conley and her husband, Peter, of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Tardiff; and by a daughter, Jeannette Tardiff.
