1965 – 2014

LEWISTON — Richard R. Nelson, 48, of Lewiston, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Portland on Oct. 16, 1965, a son of Rolande (Vallee-Nelson) Laliberte and Harold Nelson Sr.

He was a great man who was loved by all who knew him. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, and especially loved to spend time with family and friends. He was a member of the 20M Club, LeNationale and the Pastime Club.

Richard lost a piece of his heart on July 4; he has now been reunited with his love, Jeannine. May they watch over us together.

He is survived by his mother, Rolande Laliberte; his stepfather, Raymond Laliberte; his father, Harold Nelson Sr.; his companion, Sandy Richards; one daughter, Darcy Nelson and her fiancé, Nicholas; two grandchildren, Dakota and Natalia; two brothers, Harold Nelson and his wife, Sandra, and Michael Nelson and his companion, Justin; two nephews, Anthony and Steven Nelson; two nieces, Mellisa and Michelle Nelson; five stepbrothers; and many great friends.
