RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Stephen G. Thibault was celebrated Thursday, Aug. 21, at Parish of the Holy Savior.
The Rev. Alfred Jacques was the celebrant, Bernard Poirier was the altar server and Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were “Be Not Afraid,” “Amazing Grace,” “Like a Child Rests,” “On Eagles’ Wings” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
The Old Testament was presented by Lynne Robinson and the New Testament was presented by Kelly Ellis. The Prayer of the Faithful was offered by Earl Seymour, and offertory gifts were presented by Myra Thibault and Meghan Spooner. Personal reflections were shared by Myja Thibault.
Interment was at St. John Cemetery. Military honors were rendered by the Maine Funeral Honor Guard. After military honors, a favorite song of Steve’s, Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again,” was played as a suggestion offered by Dan Gauvin, while all present at the cemetery sang along with the music. Bearers were Paul Predaris, Myja Thibault, Scott Adams, Butch Furrough, Matthew David Spooner Jr. and Mitchell Fraser.
A reception was held at the American Legion. Services were under the care and guidance of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home in Rumford.
