1930 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Richard Gould, 84, of Brooklin, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 6, 1930, the son of Raymond E. and Lillian (Wallace) Gould.

Richard “Dick” was educated in Auburn schools, graduating in 1949 from Edward Little High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force as a medical technician. He was employed by several companies in California and Maine as an IBM operator and wiring technician.

Dick lived in Brooklin for more than 30 years where he worked for several local and summer families, including those of Donald Parson, The Goddards and Roxanne Sly. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brooklin and served as secretary on the Board of Trustees for several years.

He was a man of many passions, including love for his family and country, planes, trains and automobiles, skiing and Marilyn Monroe. He was quick witted, a talented artist and blessed with the gift of gab and storytelling.

He is survived by two sisters, Betty Mason and Ellen Harms of Turner; his former wife and mother of his children, Mae (Holbrook) Sennett; three daughters, Beverly Nickerson of Buckfield, Karen Asselin and husband, Roger, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Barbara Gould and husband, Alan Kolln of Sumner; a stepson, Thornton (Andy) Andrews of Brooklin; a stepdaughter, Ellen Eaton of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Lisa Bennett, Melissa Hackett, Michael Taylor II, Francis Gurschick II, Samuel Gurschick, Alison Wix, Todd Kolln, Matthew Kolln, Mae Desirae Kolln, Todd Eaton, Blake Eaton and Morgan Eaton; several great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Edith Bennett; a brother, Robert Gould; his second wife, Jacqueline (Redmond) Andrews; his third wife, Elsie (Carter) Anderson; a granddaughter, Cheyanne (Gurschick) Audet; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alexander Hackett.
