LEEDS — State and local police searched Monday night for a possible shooting suspect in the area of Line Road.

Just before 8 p.m., officers from the Maine State Police and Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence on Country View Drive for a possible shooting.

A dispatcher said there was a “large altercation,” but that he did not believe anyone was injured.

Officers blocked off Country View Drive for much of Monday night, as well as stationing officers along Line Road to monitor traffic.

Police searched the dark, densely wooded area, attempting to contact the suspect by using a bullhorn, while neighbors on the small road were kept from returning home.

One Country View resident, who did not want to be identified, made a couple attempts to approach the numerous police vehicles that lined Country View Drive, only to be turned away.

“This is getting to be a monthly occurrence,” he said before driving his pickup back up Line Road to see if it was safe to go home.
